BASRA: The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF) said on Monday that the draw for the 25th Gulf Cup will now be held in Basra on October 25.
The deferred, due to COVID-19 pandemic tournament, will be held at Basra in southern Iraq from January 6 to 19, 2023.
The Gulf Cup is held every two years while Qatar hosted the last edition in 2019 in which Bahrain won their first title in its history.

Kuwait holds the record for the number of title wins 10 while Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iraq have lifted three times and the UAE and Oman triumphed twice.
Iraq hosted the Gulf Cup for the first time in 1979 at Al-Shaab International Stadium in Baghdad and was crowned with the title of the fifth edition.
It was expected to be held in 2022 but that proved to be impossible due to busy international events such as Qatar World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers.
All the eight teams, hosts Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen are expected to field their best team for the prestigious Gulf Cup even though it is not a FIFA approved tournament.
