NEW YORK: The Sultanate of Oman emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause during its participation in the ministerial meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Iraq, the Republic of Yemen, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United States of America, which was held in New York on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Dr. Muhammad bin Awad Al-Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and head of the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation to the UNGA, said that the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East requires the establishment of a Palestinian state on all its occupied territories since 1967. Once again, the Sultanate of Oman supports the two-state solution.

For his part, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken affirmed that his country supports the two-state solution and will continue its efforts with the concerned parties to achieve this goal and to achieve peace in the Middle East.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of strengthening relations and joint cooperation in all fields, supporting international economic recovery efforts, efforts to achieve regional security and stability, and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at calming regional tensions.
