MUSCAT : The lone racing team from the Sultanate of Oman and led by Omani driver Ahmad Al Harthy, Oman Racing hopes for a medal in the penultimate round of the European Le Mans Series at the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on Sunday.
Oman Racing team, in their debut season in the ELMS’s LMGTE class, is currently ranked seventh with 30 points (drivers table) and 11 points (team) with two more rounds to go.
Oman Racing led by Ahmed along with teammates Sam De Haan of Britain and Marco Sorensen of Denmark, hope to return to winning ways after disappointing show at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. “In fact, we were unsuccessful in Milan too before coming here (Belgium). The conditions in those two races were not suitable for us. We carried extra weight and the car’s thrust was compromised. However, we are always optimistic about our performance at the circuit of Spa Francochamp. We worked hard for the past two weeks to restore some power with our technical team, and we are confident of returning to the podium,” Ahmad told ONA on Wednesday.
