MUSCAT: The Environment Authority freed the four eagles in Sireen Nature Reserve, situated in the wilayat of Barka, who were under treatment and rehabilitation for quite some time.
“The Environment Authority , in cooperation with the Environment Society of Oman, was able to release four eagles in the Sireen Nature Reserve, after receiving the necessary care at the Authority’s breeding center in the Wilayat of Barka,” tweeted Oman News Agency on Wednesday.
The releases of the eagles were timely as the Environment Authority, Environment Society of Oman and Disney Conservation Fund were organizing a workshop on ‘Conservation and Protection of Eagles in the Sultanate of Oman’.

The seminar aimed at the importance of conducting surveys and studies, forming a working group of stakeholders, volunteers to conserve and protect eagles and birds in the Sultanate.
The authority has placed satellite tracking devices on the eagles, in addition to ferret rings in order to track them and study their lifestyle and behaviour.
