MUSCAT: A space settlement center will be established in an area of 20,000 square meters soon in Sultanate of Oman’s Duqm Special Economic Zone.
An agreement between the Public Authority for Special Economic and Free Zones (OPAZ) and Global Space and Technology Company to establish the space settlement center has been signed on Tuesday, according to ONA on Tuesday.
The deal was inked by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali bin Akaak, Acting CEO of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and Bahiya bint Hilal bin Sultan Al Shuaibi, founder and CEO of the Global Space and Technology Company.
The company has won Business Excellence Award 202 by the World Business Federation in the United States.
The space center will include space research, scientific and practical experiments to simulate astronauts, research in science, advanced technology and artificial intelligence.
A delighted company tweeted that the center will create a simulated environment for space exploration such as Mars and the Moon to study the behavior of astronauts before launching manned flights into space.
