MUSCAT: Chess which has huge followers in the Sultanate of Oman will now host the Asian Amateur Chess Championship at Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex, here from September 28 to October 6. The eight-day meet is being organized by the Oman Chess Committee.
Chess players from all Asian countries which are members of FIDE, the world body of the game, are eligible and 167 from 21 countries have confirmed their entries.
The Asian Amateur Championships 2022 is open to all Asian players who dot not have a FIDE rating above 2000 and should not have a FIDE title higher than FIDE Master such as International Master or Grand Master in men or women categories.
