Motor accidents in Oman: Huge hike in compensation paid

At least OMR 5 million rewarded to victims so far this year

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman offers more benefits to the accident victims compared to damaged vehicles.

The Capital Markets Authority’s data released for the second quarter of 2022 shows that 19,335 accidents were recorded across the Sultanate.

Fortunately, more than half of the accidents involved were labeled as minor accidents.

The major or serious accidents accounted to a total of 3809 and the total compensation paid by insurance companies for the victims amounted to OMR 5 million.

CMA’s data proved that the total number of claims for the same period amounted to 22,433: 16,219 (minor accidents for material damage), 2,934 (serious accidents also material damage), 3,197 (serious accidents including injuries and treatment expenses), and 83 (deaths).
