MUSCAT: The Nizwa Consumer Protection Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion, managed to shut down a scrap shop in the governorate that was tampering with scales.

The inspection comes as part of the Consumer Protection Authority’s (CPA) efforts to curb violations committed by some suppliers.

“After finding the violations, CPA took legal action against the shop,” the department said in a statement.

The Consumer Protection Authority has urged all merchants and suppliers to abide by the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations and to abide by transparency and credibility with consumers in order to avoid legal accountability.
