MUSCAT: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. bid farewell to Munther bin Mahfouz Al-Mandhari, the Sultanate of Oman’s ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines at the end of his tenure in the Asean country.
The Philippine News Agency said that Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his appreciation for the Omani ambassador’s efforts and contributions in developing a vibrant relationship between the Philippines and the Sultanate of Oman, wishing him good luck on his new journey.
PNA also recollected that the diplomatic relations between the Sultanate and the Philippines were officially established on October 6, 1980, with the accreditation of the Philippine ambassador to Riyadh as a non-resident ambassador in Muscat. It added that the Philippine government did not open a resident embassy in Muscat until March, 1992, when Consul Bahnarim Ginumla assumed the position of Chargé d’Affairs, and Sanchez Ali became the first resident Philippine ambassador to the Sultanate.
