Chewing tobacco seized from laundry shop in Oman

No efforts shall be spared in monitoring the markets and taking legal measures against violators, the authorities said.

MUSCAT: The General Directorate of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate seized large quantities of chewing tobacco in the Wilayat of Suwaiq.

During their field visits to shops and markets in Suwaiq, the judicial control officers noticed that many consumers were frequenting a laundry shop.

This evoked the suspicion of the authorities and prompted them to search the entire store. Following this, 44 bags of chewing tobacco were discovered at the store. Legal action has been taken against the violators. 

The Consumer Protection Authority in Oman has been taking tremendous efforts to combat the spread of prohibited substances which have an impact on the health and safety of individuals and society at large.

The authority has affirmed that it shall spare no effort in following up and monitoring the markets and take legal measures against violators.
