MUSCAT: The US Secretary of State, Anthony John Blinken, stressed the important role played by the Sultanate of Oman in initiating the peace process in Yemen.
Blinken, in a tweet, said, “Spoke with Omani Foreign Minister to thank Oman for helping to secure the furlough of U.S. citizen Morad Tahbaz in Iran. I reiterated the important role Oman plays in Yemen’s peace process and I thanked Oman for its diplomatic efforts in the region.”
His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, received a phone call from Anthony Blinken. They spoke about the existing relations between the two friendly countries and their aspirations to advance them in various fields, common interests and achieve mutual benefits.

The two officials also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern, especially with regard to the efforts taken to maintain the truce in Yemen and achieving peace and stability in the country.
The two sides also discussed negotiations to resume the nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and the developments of the Ukrainian war.
They also touched upon the importance of intensifying efforts and endeavours to address issues through dialogue and political and diplomatic solutions in a manner that preserves the independence, sovereignty and peaceful coexistence of countries and people.
