Oman authorities gear up ahead of torrential rains

The National Committee for Emergency Management has requested all authorities to be prepared for the potential impacts of the expected rains.

MUSCAT: The National Committee for Emergency Management has directed to activate the sub-committees in several governorates of Oman.

The sub-committees in the governorates of Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliya, Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Musandam have been activated.

The NCEM has requested all authorities to be prepared for the potential impacts of the expected rains.

Ahead of heavy rainfall in many parts of Oman this week, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has urged the public to take “maximum protection and to stay alert.”

In a statement issued, CAA said heavy rainfall is expected to fall on Tuesday (July 26) and Wednesday (July 27), in the range of 20 mm to 100 mm.
