MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan affirmed the position of Oman in support of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Sayyid Asaad was addressing the Jeddah Security and Development Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia which kicked off on Saturday with the participation of six GCC countries plus Egypt, Jordan and Iraq – also known as GCC+3.
Sayyid Asaad said reiterated Oman’s support for permanent peace in Yemen and efforts of “Special Envoy to Yemen and the US Special Envoy to Yemen to reach a political solution agreed upon by all segments of the Yemeni people.”

“The Sultanate of Oman expresses its hope that the negotiations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action between Iran, the five permanent members of the Security Council and Germany will lead to a positive agreement that enhances regional and global peace, security and stability,” Sayyid Asaad said.
“The Sultanate of Oman attaches great importance to environmental and climate issues, and looks forward to the contribution of the Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh (COP27) next November to accelerate efforts to address the challenges facing the world and strengthening the commitment to zero carbon emissions through more investment in clean and green energy,” he added.
