Oman keen to include sustainability in its development plans

Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Diplomatic Affairs explained that the objectives of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is vital to Oman's Vision 2040.

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its keenness to integrate the dimensions and goals of sustainable development into its development strategies and plans.

The Sultanate also aims to allocate budgets to ensure their achievement in the medium and long term, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Diplomatic Affairs, said before the ministerial meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.

The forum began on July 13 and will conclude on Friday, July 15, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

In his speech, His Excellency explained that the goals and objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development have become an important component of Oman’s Vision 2040.

He also pointed out the importance of concerted international efforts to overcome the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and work towards achieving the desired goals for sustainability by the year 2030.
