MUSCAT: A British magazine specialising in energy affairs, confirmed that the Sultanate of Oman aims to transform its energy sector, by focusing on renewable energy sources.
In a new report, seven wind and solar projects are set to add an additional 1.9 gigawatts of capacity to Oman by the end of 2026.
The report pointed out that Oman Electricity Transmission Company, the energy transmission company in which the government owns the largest share, recently revealed a roadmap to add 1.9 gigawatts of renewable energy through seven projects within 4 years.

The report also pointed out that the company issued a statement explaining how the seven planned projects will provide power for the primary interconnected system (MIS) in the Sultanate of Oman. This will include the capital Muscat and northern Oman and Dhofar.
A separate system will be provided in the south, along with ongoing plans to connect the two networks through a connector, New 400 kV, by the end of 2026.
