Avoid travelling to Sri Lanka, advises Oman ministry

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Omani citizens to avoid visiting Sri Lanka at the moment unless it is absolutely necessary.

The ministry confirmed that this comes in light of the ongoing situation in the Republic of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has announced his intention to step down, a few hours after protesters stormed his official residence and set fire to the Prime Minister’s house.

Thousands of angry protesters flocked to the capital, Colombo, to demand the president’s resignation, after months of protests over the mismanagement of the economic crisis plaguing Sri Lanka.
