Oman weather: Wilayat Al Hamra receives the highest amount of rainfall

Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said Al Hamra received 90 mm of rainfall on Thursday

MUSCAT: Wilayat Al Hamra in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate recorded highest amount of rainfall on Thursday.

In a statement issued, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said Al Hamra received 90 mm of rainfall.

“This is due to the influence of the weather condition of the air groove coming from India,” CDAA said.

Abdullah bin Rashid Al-Khadoori from the Directorate General of Meteorology said: The Sultanate is affected by several waves of the of the groove that continued until Thursday, with a new wave since the early morning, as rains of varying intensity fell on several governorates in the north of the Sultanate of Oman.”

“It extended to include the Al Wusta Governorate and parts of the Dhofar Governorate, with varying influences and abundance, and accompanied by some active winds,” he added.

“This impact is expected to continue on the atmosphere of the Sultanate of Oman until tomorrow (Friday), as well as extending to the first days of Eid Al-Adha, indicating that indicators still show chances of rain of varying intensity tomorrow, which may range from 20 to 80 mm,” he noted.

The impact will also be on most of the northern governorates of the Sultanate, with the flow of clouds from the northern Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman heading to the coasts and then to the Al Hajar Mountains, the governorates located on the Al Hajar Mountains, the plain parts and the lowland states behind the Al Hajar Mountains, as well as the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.
