MUSCAT: A session of official talks was held between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen on Sunday, in Dhofar Governorate.
Discussions were held in the field of transportation, communications and information technology.
The Omani side was chaired by Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and from the Yemeni side, the meeting was attended by Dr. Najeeb Mansour Al-Auj, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

They discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance them. They also spoke about encouraging joint investment, trade, technical and logistical partnerships between the two countries. Additionally, they discussed establishing joint projects and identifying challenges and possible solutions regarding strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries.
His Excellency Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Maawali said that the session dealt with developing relations in the fields of land, sea and air transport, transit trade, investment in free zones, and also work in the fields of communications and information technology.
For his part, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Yemen stressed the importance of the joint meetings that come within the framework of reviving the agreements concluded between the two sides over the past years. He also noted that the session discussed activating and revitalising the fields of investment and inter-trade, and discussed facilitating bank procedures for Yemeni investors.
His Excellency said that there are many projects that are expected to be launched soon, including the reconnection of communication cables on the border between the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna and the Yemeni shipping area.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the General Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, said that the two sides will work to find a mechanism to activate a greater maritime link between the Salalah Free Zone and the Republic of Yemen, activate the land port and the free zone in Al Mazyouna, and strengthen the banking sector between them.
