MUSCAT: The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced that the World Veteran Table Tennis Championships 2023 will be held from January 15 to 21 in the Sultanate of Oman.
The first stage of registration closed on Saturday, July 2, 2022, and the second stage commenced on Sunday, July 3 and will conclude at midnight on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
In a report published on its website, the federation stated that the Sultanate of Oman is a country of breath-taking natural beauty. Muscat has a wide array of hotel options, all of which can be easily booked on the official website of the World Veteran Championships.

The ITTF has launched the World Veterans Tour – Road to Oman, a new series of veterans events taking the players on the road to the next World Veterans Championships. The tour will start in September and feature four events open to anyone and everyone who continues to show their passion for the sport.
The tour includes four events — 8-11 September 2022 – Otocec, Slovenia; 14-16 October 2022 – Loutraki, Greece; 3-6 November 2022 – Djerba, Tunisia; 14-17 December – Los Angeles, USA.
Every event winner of the World Veterans Tour – Road to Oman will get free entry to the Oman 2023 World Veterans Championships. All participants of the tour will benefit from a 10% discount on the entry fee for the World Championships.
The World Veterans Tour – Road to Oman events are open to players aged 40 and over, with seven age categories on offer: 40-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+. The competition includes Men’s & Women’s Singles and Doubles. Players will compete in round-robin and single-elimination stages, the ITTF report clarified.
“Veterans table tennis is on the rise with enormous potential for future growth. The ITTF is committed to providing a professional stage for veteran players to compete in high-level competitions. The ITTF World Veterans Tour was launched in 2019 as the first professionally organised series of events to link the ever-growing global veteran players community,” the report said.
