MUSCAT: Work on implementing the joint investments between Oman and Tanzania is underway, the Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Investments of Tanzania said a press conference at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
Godius Kahyarara, the permanent secretary for Industry, Trade and Investments said that the implementation of various joint investments agreed upon by both the countries is on-going. The investments were entered into after the recent visit of Tanzanian President Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan to Oman earlier this month.
With a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Omani aviation authorities and the Kilimanjaro Airports Development Co. (KADCO) for face lifting the northern airport will ease the transportation of locally produced products, especially with export processing zones being set up, he said.

Omani firms have shown interest to invest in meat processing and modern fish farming, to change the situation where Tanzania has four meat processing factories all operating below capacity, not crossing 30 percent of installed capacity owing to failure to obtain international
markets.
Meat processing factories will now operate at full capacity as the firms can sell their meat to Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. “We are implementing a number of initiatives including construction of cattle dips to improve the quality of our meat and related products as cattle dipping helps to reduce diseases by over 90 percent,” he explained.
The Al Bashayer Meat Co. and the National Ranching Co. (NARCO) signed an agreement for trading of live animals and meat, while Oman Food Investment Holding Co. and the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) also signed an accord.
The signing of accords between Tanzania and Oman for improving electricity services, as Omani firms will deliver experience and expertise for Tanzanian energy agencies.
Zuhura Yunus, the director of presidential communications, said that a range of accord were signed in energy, tourism, natural resources, higher education, training and national museums.
A memorandum was signed between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) with the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and the Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).
Accords were also signed between the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), she added.
