Oman offers stability in Middle East, says Egyptian officials

Oman has been distinguished throughout its history as being neutral and positive, writes a member of the Egyptian Senate.

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman plays an important role in promoting stability in the Middle East owing to its distinguished foreign policy, Egyptian politicians and analysts said.

Member of the Egyptian Senate, Mahmoud al-Qat said in a statement to a satellite channel on Tuesday, June 28, “The Sultanate of Oman enjoys great political weight at the Arab level. Oman has been distinguished throughout its history as being neutral and positive, some political analysts even call it the Switzerland of the Arabs.”

Political analyst Abu Bakr Al-Deeb stressed in an article he wrote, the stability of the Oman’s foreign policy is based on solid foundations, supportive of international peace and security, non-interference in the internal affairs of countries, and the adoption of dialogue as ideal means of conflict resolution. Oman also gives priority to the public interest in settling regional and international issues, which makes the Sultanate balanced and stable in terms of security and peace in the Arab region.

Dr. Hamed Fares, an expert on Arab affairs, said in a statement published in the Egyptian newspaper, “The Egyptian-Omani relations are based on clear principles and pillars, namely peaceful coexistence, good neighbourliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of others, respect for the sovereignty of states and cooperation in all fields. Therefore, the Egyptian-Omani relations are exemplary par excellence with keenness to strengthen it.”
