Dhofar’s rich heritage of frankincense can leave you mesmerised for more. The resin has been used in perfume-making and for medicinal purposes too. It also has a special place in religious rituals for thousands of years.
With the onset of the Khareef season, Dhofar will be witnessing a spurt in visitors and tourists from within and outside of Oman until September 21, 2022.
The coastal wilayats in the Dhofar Governorate, mainly from the Wilayat of Dhalkut in the west to the Wilayat of Mirbat in the east, will reflect the effects of the Khareef season. This would mean that monsoon winds and the flow of clouds coming from the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean will be expected during this period.
