MUSCAT: Karwa Motors celebrated the official launch of its bus factory in Duqm SEZ on Thursday, June 23.
Built on an area of 568,000 square meters, the factory is designed to produce three different types of buses including city buses, school buses and intercity buses. The production capacity of the factory is 700 buses per year, equivalent to producing three to four buses per day.
H.E. Dr. Saad Bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, Chairman of Karwa Motors, emphasised that company is the product of strategic partnerships between Oman and Qatar which reflects the strength of political, economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

Dr. Ibrahim Bin Ali Al Balushi, CEO of Karwa Motors, explained that the company is distinguished from the rest of the factories in the region because it has modern technologies in the operation of production lines, quality inspection facilities and tests that ensure high quality of its products.
Karwa Motors was founded with the aim of transferring the technology of the bus industry to Oman, making it one of the manufacturing centres. Additionally it also aids in enhancing the added local value and localisation of the industry, contributing to development and economic diversification in Oman.
The project has also helped in creating medium and small-scale projects to support the factory’s work, encouraging contribution to the empowerment of Omani youth.
