MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has formed a committee to study the possibility of reducing treatment fees at private health institutions in the country.
The committee which is formed under the Director General of the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions is also looking to transform all payment transactions electronically. “A committee has been formed to review the fees for services provided at private healthcare institutions and possibilities of reducing the fee in line with the direction of the government to support investment,” said Dr Muhanna bin Nasser Al Maslahi, the Director General of the Directorate General of Private health institutions.
Oman currently has 1,600 institutions, while 11 private hospitals are under construction.

“Relevant authorities would produce prices acceptable to all parties, contributing to the expansion of the private health sector within the scope of insurance coverage, Al Maslahi added.
“There are joint actions with all parties to work on simplifying the procedures that contribute to the digital transformation process. We are working towards introducing a system so that payment transactions can be done online,” he said.
