MUSCAT: The Royal Hospital managed to successfully treat a girl with Down syndrome and leukemia through immunotherapy, which is done for the first time in Oman.

“This was carried out at an advanced stage after her treatment with chemotherapy was difficult,” Oman News Agency said on a statement.

Dr. Alia bint Muhammad Al-Mughiriyah, a consultant pediatric hematologist and oncologist at the Royal Hospital, explained that immunotherapy is provided in other countries in cases of relapse of the patient’s health, and that giving immunotherapy at an early stage of treatment is advanced and world-leading.
