Oman to participate in 5th Islamic Solidarity Games

The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in the Turkish city of Konya from August 9 to 18, 2022.

MANAMA: The Board of Directors of the Oman Olympic Committee, headed by Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Zubair, approved the decision to participate in the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games.

The games will be held in the Turkish city of Konya from August 9 to 18, 2022, under the aegis of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation. It will be the first time in history that the event will be organised by the Turkish Olympic Committee.

In its meeting, the Council approved the initial participation of the teams whose sports federations and committees expressed a desire to participate in the sports course. The board also approved the lists submitted by the Executive Office to the members of the assisting and assisting committees to the Board of Directors, based on a number of criteria.

The committees were the Oman Sports Committee for a Sustainable Environment headed by His Highness Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said, Vice President of the Oman Olympic Committee, the Omani Committee for Sports and Active Society headed by Eng. The Oman Olympic Solidarity Committee headed by Qais bin Saud Al-Zakwani, member of the Board of Directors, the Omani Committee for Athletes and chaired by Asaad bin Mubarak Al-Hasani, in addition to the High Level Sports and Olympic Planning Committee headed by Saif bin Sebaa Al-Rashidi, member of the Board of Directors, and the Education, Culture and Olympic Legacy Committee headed by Eng. Khalfan bin Saleh Al-Naabi is a member of the Board of Directors, and the Omani Committee for Sports Medicine and Anti-Doping, headed by Dr. Masoud bin Ali Al Riyami.
