MUSCAT: As Oman is advancing and developing with an accelerated pace in all sectors, it has become more crucial to take additional preventive measures to ensure such achievements are not put at risk.

To that effect, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority has been following up and verifying the safety conditions which prevents fire incidents at industrial facilities in Oman.

The reasons for occurrences of industrial fires are many, some of which are noncompliance with the conditions issued by the Directorate General of Civil Protection and irregular maintenance for the alarm and firefighting systems in the facility.

Also, using non-durable and non-fire-resistant materials for building, non verification of the correctness of the electrical wiring within the facility can be reasons for such incidences to occur.

Many a times, random storage and hazardous or infringing materials being stored without providing suitable environment can also lead to dangerous fires accidents.

Considering that the industrial facilities and buildings are amongst apart of Oman’s achievements, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority has called on all the
industrial companies and their workers to observe the safety conditions.

Some of which include complying with the safety instructions for industrial facilities, avoiding the use of non-permanent material for building, complying with regular maintenance for the alarm and firefighting systems in the facility.

The list also includes storing permitted materials in suitable places, training the employees to deal with simple incidents, and appointing safety and security officer to supervise the safety aspects. Companies must provide a secure environment for the workers to ensure their safety.
