Over 10 agreements signed to boost local communities in Oman

This initiative will cover a variety of sectors, including health, safety, environment, community infrastructure development and others.

MUSCAT: His Excellency Sheikh Nasser bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the State Financial and Administrative Control Authority, on Tuesday, sponsored the signing ceremony of 12 memoranda of cooperation.

These agreements were signed by the Petroleum Development Oman with various governmental and private agencies. With these agreements, the company is committed to support a new set of social investment initiatives aimed at benefiting local communities and promoting sustainable development across the Sultanate.

These initiatives cover a variety of key areas and sectors, including health, safety and environment, community infrastructure development, as well as sponsoring many educational, cultural and sports programs.

In order to enhance health services and their availability in the various regions of the Sultanate, the company will finance the purchase of new medical equipment, which will be distributed by the Ministry of Health to hospitals and medical centres.

As part of the company’s orientation towards achieving excellence in the field of health, safety and environment, the company will support the installation of solar-powered lighting on the Adam-Haima road and the intersections of the Hamra Al-Dur` road, which will serve more than 100 villages in the neighbouring areas.
