MUSCAT: At the spectacular Oman’s official technology event, COMEX 2022, that was held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Tariq Hilal Al Barwani, has been honoured with the prestigious “Youth ICT Influencer of the year” award by His Excellency Dr Ali Al Shidhani the Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. The award was honored to Tariq for his outstanding achievements over the years to influence youth towards adapting useful future technologies.

“Tariq has been instrumental to be a role model for the youth to adapt and prospect future technologies for two decades since he was a young boy. The positive impact of Tariq’s work has created many Omanis to pursue ICT as a career, an entrepreneurial path as well as do business in the field of ICT. Tariq is an outstanding leader who continuous to serve the community and the people in the country” said Sadiq Khan, Group COO of OITE and Arab Research Bureau.

During the three-day packed technology event, Tariq ran an innovative technology clinic where he consulted students to pursue the right ICT education for job opportunities, advised young entrepreneurs on their business ideas, plans and operations, and supported employees on courses to take in order keep up with the advancements and requirements of future technologies. 

“Tariq’s contribution for COMEX helps individuals, societies and communities to embrace future technologies with confidence so as empower their personal and professional growth” added Sadiq 

The jury of the COMEX Awards for Excellence in Technology comprises of a mix of Industry experts and professionals, academia, corporate heads, journalists and respective members from the government. The selection of winners are made through a set of neutral, transparent, independent and impartial criteria and procedures followed by the judging panel consisting of technology experts representing government and non-governmental specialized institutions and bodies, and a number of senior technical experts. The primary function of the Awards Ceremony is to identify and reward nationwide talents for their excellence in technology.
