MUSCAT : The final leg of Oman’s qualification run for the berth in the Qualifiers of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India will begin on 8th June, 2022 with a tri-series against the hosts USA and in-contention Nepal. A double-round robin format will be followed, with the matches being played as part of the ICC Men’s CWC League 2019 – 22.
Duleep Mendis, Head Coach and Chief Development Officer – Oman Cricket said, “As a team, we are very positive to get started with these next set of games in the CWC League 2. Our last 2 tri-series in the UAE were fairly successful and we will look to deliver at a similar level this time around too. The boys have had a good recovery and regaining period over the last 3-4 weeks and also have trained hard to keep up and in-shape for this tour. We will be heading to USA a week prior to play couple of practice games and get accustomed to the conditions. USA and Nepal are both formidable sides and we are looking forward to some competitive and high- quality cricket over the next two weeks “.
Oman currently holds a 16-point advantage over second-placed Scotland in the table but having played close to twice the number of matches than the other 6 teams making these final set of 4 ODI’s crucial for better their shot at the Qualifiers of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.
