Oman may soon resume flights to Russia: Diplomat

Negotiations on restoring air transportation between Moscow and Muscat will be held at the end of May, the Russian Ambassador said.

MUSCAT: The Russian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Ilya Morgunov, said that the Sultanate of Oman has been preparing to resume flights to Russia.

Air transportation to resume between Oman and Russia in the near future, the Russian ambassador said in an interview published by the Russian Digest Travel magazine.

The transportation of tourists will be one of the main goals of this air route, the diplomat added.

According to the Russian ambassador, Oman will be able to compete in terms of attractiveness with the United Arab Emirates, stressing that negotiations on restoring air transportation between Moscow and Muscat will be held at the end of May.

He pointed out that Oman has taken a neutral position on issues of international disputes. He also stressed that relations between the Russian Federation and Oman have not been affected or subject to sanctions, and therefore the prospects for tourism in the country are good.
