MUSCAT: The government is planning to include job seekers in the new social protection system, a top official has confirmed.

Nabhan Al Battashi, Chairman of the General Federation of Oman Workers said the new social protection system will improve the level of income of the individual and the family, both workers and job seekers.

“I have seen the details of the social protection system and I am optimistic about it,” Al Battashi said.

Regarding the review of minimum wage for Omani citizens, Al Battashi said: “Revising the minimum wage has become a necessity due to high inflation. The current minimum wage of OMR 325 will limit the desire for young Omanis to enter private sector.”
