MUSCAT: With the annual Khareef Festival in Salalah just around the corner, authorities are hoping to cash in on the growing volume of travel to the Middle East, post the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, officials held a meeting at the office of the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar to determine the readiness of the concerned authorities to receive tourists for the Khareef Festival. “The committee discussed in terms of preparations, providing places for visitors to stay, and the extent to which all food supplies are ensured in the city of Salalah,” the statement from the Governor of Dhofar said.

“Sufficient numbers of police officers will be involved in organising traffic on all roads leading to the governorate and securing green spaces and beaches with rescue teams. And the readiness of telecommunications companies and electricity companies were also discussed at the meeting,” the statement added.
