MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the meeting held by the Council of the League of Arab States today to pay tribute to the late President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Sultanate of Oman was represented in the meeting by Counsellor Badr bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sultanate to the League of Arab States.
In his speech to the meeting, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Khalil Ibrahim Al Thawadi, said that the memorial ceremony for the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is an opportunity to recall with pride the achievements of this man at the national level in the United Arab Emirates and at the level of the two nations. He added that Sheikh Khalifa pledged himself to follow the guidance of his founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, may he rest in peace.
He expressed his condolences to the people of the Emirates, and the Al Nahyan family, in this great loss, stressing that his memory will remain immortal for generations to follow. Arabs, as well as in regional and international organisations.
