MUSCAT: A delegation comprising 13 ambassadors and representatives of European Union countries visited the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
The delegation was briefed on the incentives, available investment opportunities, privileges and facilities offered to investors and businessmen. They were also given an explanation of the existing projects and the projects which are being implemented in the region.
During their visit to the region, the delegation met with His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the General Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, and a number of CEOs of companies operating in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.

On the other hand, the ambassadors also visited a number of vital projects and facilities in the region, such as the port of Duqm, the sea fishing port (multi-purpose), the fish and food industries area, the dry dock, the Karwa bus assembly plant and the Duqm refinery.
Head of the delegation, Veronique Ollanion, Ambassador of the Republic of France accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, said that this visit serves the purpose of introducing the ambassadors of the member states to the various investment opportunities in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
It also allows the diplomats to get a first-hand knowledge of the most prominent sectors in which European countries are currently investing.
“By visiting the region, we can invite European companies to invest in Duqm, which is a very promising region and is witnessing developments in various sectors including green energy, fisheries, oil and gas, tourism and many more,” the delegation said.
