MUSCAT: Before a huge crowd of more than 1000 people, including children and cricket fans, Asfandyar X1 defeated Smile Strikers by massive 8 wickets on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Pankaj Khimji, Chairman of Oman Cricket, was the chief guest and oversaw the proceedings along with Saudi Ambassador H.E Saud Al Anzi as the guest of honour.

Smile Strikers won the toss and elected to bat first which proved fruitful as their batsman Tauseef displayed one of the best performances in the tournament by scoring 83 runs in just 26 balls with 10 sixes. The entertained crowd cheered and whistled each time he hit a sixer.

Shahbaz, too, scored 22 runs in just 11 balls, chasing Asfandyar X1 bowlers to all corners of the ground. He managed to score 124 runs with a loss of just 4 wickets. Amir and Zaheer, each, bagged a wicket.

Asfandyar X1 chased a decent total and continued their prolific form with batsmen Umer and Ghazanfar giving their team a strong start by scoring the bulk of the runs.

Umer scored 45 runs with 6 sixes in just 14 balls while Ghazanfar scored 30 runs in 8 balls with 4 sixes. The remaining Asfandyar X1 batsmen completed the chase with ease with the loss of just 2 wickets and clinched the winning trophy.

Pankaj Khimji presented Asfandyar captain with the winner’s trophy before a massive, cheering crowd. The Runners-Up Trophy was presented by H.E Saud Al Anzi. Saudi Ambassador, to Matiur Rehman captain of Smile Strikers. Tauseef was named the Player of the Tournament and Umar was hailed as the Man of the Match.

A memento was presented to Pankaj Khimji by the Chairman of the School Board, Ameer Hamza. A souvenir was also presented to the Saudi Ambassador and the Chairman of Times Of Oman, Mohamad Essa Alzadjali.

Pankaj Khimji lauded the efforts of the Chief Organiser, Jameel Zaidi who organised this successful event in a very short span of time.
