Oman helps secure release of 14 people from Yemen including 7 Indians

MUSCAT: Based on the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the government has secured the release of 14 nationals belonging to six countries from Yemen on Sunday.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said 14 nationals of UK, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Ethiopia have been released after they were detained in Yemen.

“The Sultanate of Oman has coordinated with the concerned authorities in Sana’a, which responded with gratitude to these endeavors, and after communicating with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to facilitate the issuance of the necessary permits,” the Ministry said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the 14 nationals were transferred from Sanaa to Muscat “on a plane belonging to the Royal Air Force of Oman, in preparation for their return to their countries.”

Among those released include seven citizens are from India, while three are British nationals.
