MUSCAT: Indian Social Club, Oman – Deccani Wing (DW) organised its first edition of the Box Cricket Tournament, Deccan Box Cricket (DBC)  played on Friday at SEEB Club Ground, Muwaleh. 

Seven teams participated in the qualifying league stage and knockout Semi-Finals were played between Deccan Warriors Vs Deccan XI and Deccan  Royals Vs Deccan Charges Champions.

Deccan Warriors and Deccan Charges Champions reached the final.

The final match was keenly fought where Deccan Warriors after winning the toss elected to bat and scored 39 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 8overs.

Mohammed Salemuddin, Abdullah and Sami took 2 wickets each.  

In reply, Deccan Charges Champions made 40runs for 3 wickets and reached the target in 5.2 overs. Abdullah was adjudged as Man of the Match and also Man of the series for his all-around performance.

Deccani Wing office bearers Ismail Baig, Co-Convener, Mansoor Sabri, Treasurer and Zaheer Al Deen, Head of Organising Committee welcomed the Chief Guest Mohammed Raheemuddin, Former Chief Vice-PresidentIndia National Trade Union Congress – Andhra Pradesh.

Suhail Khan, Joint General Secretary – ISC Oman and DWExecutive Committee members Siddiqui, Abdul Samad, and Mirza Zulkhader were also present at the event.

Chief guest Mohammed Raheemuddin handed over the Champions trophy to winning captain Mohammed Saleemuddin. DW Co-Convener IsmailBaig gave away the Runners-Up trophy to the captain of the team Naimath.

The organising committee headed by Zaheer Al Deen and members Naimath, Mirza Zulkhader, Abdul Ghaffar and Zaki received a lot of accolades for holding a successful tournament with full COVID-19 protocols in place.  The organising team were supported by Ali Al Deen (Logistics), Mustafa (Photography) and Kabir (Scoring).

Deccani Wing and its members wished Ramadan Kareem to the citizens and residents of Oman.
