MUSCAT : Cinépolis Cinemas, hosted much-anticipated country-wide premiere of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2” on April 19, 2022.
The latest installment, built on the ultra-successful Sega game, comes two years after the release of Sonic the Hedgehog, which grossed over USD 145 million in the box office creating a new a whole new generation of Sonic fans.
“It’s very exciting that Sonic the Hegdehog 2 is bringing the best of the legendary video game to the big screen.” Says Alejandro Aguilera, CEO of Cinépolis Cinemas. He continues: “Back in the 90’s I spent an entire summer playing the video game so the characters have been a big part of my life. I am excited to watch this latest version!”

Coupled with some of Cinépolis famous popcorn, guests got a chance to watch Sonic and his trusty side-kick tails face off with the evil Dr. Robotnik and his new partner Knuckles in their quest in search of a mystical emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations.
The event took place in the award-winning Junior auditorium in their flagship location of Oman Avenues Mall, Muscat, which features a colourful jungle gym, complete with slide and ball pit, as well as fun bean-bag seating, -creating a truly one of a kind experience!
The multiplex hosts a multitude of formats such as their state-of-the-art 4D E-motion experience. The immersive theatre format allows cinema lovers to “live” the movie thanks to motion seats and outstanding special effects such as wind, water, seat vibration, smell and air shots all perfectly synchronized with the action on the screen.
