MUSCAT : Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir bid a fond adieu to the outgoing batch of class XII (2021-2022) on 10^th April. The evening was a fusion of celebration and reminiscences. The outgoing batch of class XII and  teachers shared the joy of togetherness and the pain of severance. 

The send off programme was graced by the Chief Guest – Mr. Sachin Singhal, Audit Partner at Deloitte,  Sheikh Anil Khimji-distinguished member of the Education Cell, Mr. Alkesh Joshi-honorary President  of the school managing committee, other esteemed members of the SMC, Mr. D. N. Rao-Principal, Vice  Principals, Heads of various departments, Coordinators, Parents, Teachers, the outgoing batch of class  XII and other invitees.  

The programme commenced with the arrival of the chief guest Mr. Sachin Singhal, Audit Partner at  Deloitte. Ceremonial kick off was marked by lighting of the auspicious lamp. The mantra ‘Guru is equal  to God’ was reiterated through a prayer song sung by the school choir and the teachers to bless the  outgoing students. Mr. Alkesh Joshi, the honorary president of the school managing committee,  reminded the students and parents about the challenges faced by the school in imparting education with minimum hurdles during the pandemic. He advised the students not to panic if they do not  achieve the expected results in the examination, instead he advised them to be inquisitive, always  ready to face challenges and remain connected with their friends and well-wishers. He concluded by  wishing success in the board examinations ahead. 

One of the highlights of the programme was the students seeking their parents’ blessings. God gives us  life, but parents give birth. All the students were blessed for the forthcoming examinations and for  success in their life ahead. 

On this momentous occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr. Sachin Singhal, addressed the audience with his  encouraging words of wisdom. He emphasised on the importance of the two Cs in our lives – Character  Building and the ability to face Challenges in life. Citing the examples of Mahatma Gandhi, Mother  Theresa and Abraham Lincoln he stated that a strong character ensures success in life. He advised that  learning from everyone and everything around us is the easiest and most effective way to develop a  strong character. Facing challenges is also very important for moving ahead in life.  

The august gathering was also addressed by the principal, Mr. D N Rao who applauded the batch as  being one of the most vibrant and sincere ones. According to him the school leaves no stone unturned  to mould capable, competent and confident students who fit well in the future world. He also informed  the audience that the school gives special emphasis on character formation and development of all 

round personality. He advised the students not to try hard to find answers in their lives. Being patient  and going ahead is the best way as life has its own way of answering the questions that may come to  our minds. He even informed the audience about the hardships the school has undergone to engage  the students during the pandemic.  

ISWK has a tradition of felicitating some of the outstanding students who have excelled in academics  as well as in co-scholastics as the ‘Ideal Students’ and ‘Achievers of the Year’. This year the students  who were proclaimed as the Ideal Students were Master Rohan Tom Saji and Miss Akshaya Ayyappan.  The coveted award – Achievers of the Year – was bagged by Master Viren Haresh Kundnani and Miss  Alina Susan Mathew. The school management committee and staff congratulated the proud winners  and wished them the very best in all their future endeavours.

The school Head Boy, Master Jabin Koshy and the school Head Girl, Ms. Bency John Thomas delivered  their speeches expressing gratitude to their mentors and teachers for their invaluable contribution in  making their journey at school a memorable one. After receiving the mementos and certificates, many  of the students were seen clicking pictures with friends and teachers – capturing memories of their  alma mater forever.  

Thus, ended a beautiful evening marked with both a sense of pride for the fruition of a memorable  journey and a feeling of sorrow for leaving their alma mater, their second home.
