MUSCAT: Officials from Ministry of Labour and General Federation of Workers Union (GFOW) inspected the quarry site in Ibri where the rockslide accident occurred that killed 14 people early this month.
14 bodies were recovered after a week-long rescue and search operations in Al Dhahirah Governorate. On Wednesday, His Excellency Sheikh Nasr Al Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Labour and Head of GFOW met officials from International Marble Company and Ad-Dhahirah Generating Company. “The team of the Social Dialogue Committee visited the International Marble Company and Ad-Dhahirah Generating Company to inspect the progress of its work,” Ministry of Labour said in a statement.
“Following-up on the incident of the collapse of rocks in a worksite, in which some workers lost their lives and others were stuck in Ibri, Chairman of GFOW paid a field visit to the site, in company with H.E Undersecretary of Ministry of Labour, and Chairman of GFOW,” said a statement from GFOW.
