Agreement signed to develop vocational colleges in Oman

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation and Sohar Aluminium Company LLC has signed a cooperation program to develop vocational colleges and the Vocational College for Marine Sciences in Al Khaboura.

The program was signed by Her Excellency Dr. Mona bint Salem Al Jardaniya, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Vocational Training, and Eng. Saeed bin Mohammed Al Masoudi, CEO of Sohar Company.

This cooperation would aid in strengthening the strategic partnership with the private sector and would be benefit from the company’s expertise. This added support can be used in developing vocational colleges including institutes for marine sciences. It’ll also provide an educational and training environment which would contribute to developing the quality of vocational training.

It also comes within the framework of Sohar Aluminium’s commitment in supporting sustainable educational and innovative projects.

Sohar Aluminium Company has hired an international expert house for professional consultancy in the technical evaluation phase of the project to develop the vocational colleges and the vocational college for marine sciences in Al Khaboura. It’ll work within the framework of developing the vocational education and training system in line with the objectives of Oman 2040 vision.

A comprehensive action plan has also been drawn up for the development of colleges in specific initiatives according to an updated time frame to accommodate more students who’ll receive training.

This will qualify them as per the needs of the labour market. Additionally, this plan will also include developing theoretical and practical programmes in alignment with the rapid development in the field of vocational training.
