MUSCAT: The grand inauguration of the ISWK Sports Academy took place on 29^th March 2022 on the primary school  ground in the presence of Mr. Manoj Srikant Ranade, the Chief Guest for the inaugural function, Sheikh Anil  Khimji, Mr Kiran Asher, Members of the Education Cell and well-wishers of the school, along with Mr Alkesh  Joshi, honorary President of the School Managing Committee of ISWK, Mrs. Gargi Chugh, honorary  President of the School Managing Committee of ISWK International, Mr. D.N.Rao, principal of ISWK, Mr.  Sanjay Tiwari, principal of ISWK International and other distinguished members of the SMC. The Principal,  Vice-Principals, Academic Supervisors and HoDs, Coordinators along with the Academic Coordinators and  faculty members, parents, grandparents, admin staff, and students attended the function. 

Under the supervision of its highly experienced and trained PE Department teachers, the specialized Sports  Academy will offer 17 types of Games and Sports at a very nominal charge for all the sports enthusiasts! ISWK believes sports is an integral part of an individual which plays a prominent role in the overall  development of one’s personality.  

The attendees were delighted with the unique concept of a Sports Academy in a school. The fact that the  ISWK Sports Academy is the only academy in an Indian school in Oman to nurture and train students who  aspire to excel in a particular sport is a dream come true for the ISWK fraternity.  

The program began with an address welcoming the dignitaries and everyone present. The aim and  objectives of initiating the Sports Academy was highlighted by Ms. Premlata Thakur, head of the PE  department following which the Academy was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Manoj Srikant Ranade,  Chairman of the Games and Sports sub-committee and general manager at Mitsubishi Oman-Zubair  Automotive Group.  

In his address to the ISWK family, the Chief Guest emphasized on the importance of games and sports in  building qualities like team work, ability to take on pressure and remain naturally motivated at all times.  He praised Mr. Alkesh Joshi, honorary President of the SMC of ISWK for being a top-notch cricketer and  highlighted the fact that 90% of the CEOs in the world play games and sports. He concluded his speech by  appreciating the PE Department for their amazing efforts in setting up the Sports Academy and encouraged  students as well as their parents to join the Academy.  

The evening’s programme kickstarted with an energetic display by the aerobics team showcasing agility  and rhythmic moves to lively music. A series of friendly limited over cricket matches were played between  the SMC members and the parents, students and staff. 

Along with the cricket matches, there were throwball, volleyball, hockey, football, badminton, basketball  matches in which enthusiastic students and parents participated whole heartedly. Kids enjoyed themselves  while exhibiting their prowess on the skating rink.  

Games stalls were pitched in various parts of the school ground which displayed the uniqueness of that  sport or game and vital information for lovers of that sport. The game stations attracted the attention of  one and all with spontaneous participation. The senior and primary school students demonstrated a  variety of yoga asanas displaying an impressive show of healthy body-mind coordination. 

The event concluded with a befitting vote of thanks. The ISWK Sports Academy looks forward to enrolling  a large number of students who will be in a position to reap the most of this unique facility. The dignitaries  and parents wish the ISWK Sports Academy all the very best.
