MUSCAT: During the period from January 1 to March 16, 2022, approximately 475 Omani workers were laid off from various private sector firms active in the Sultanate of Oman.
Over 475 workers from the national workforce in private sector businesses were terminated or notified of their services, according to the General Federation of Oman Works (GFOW). There were 259 layoffs in the contracting and construction industry, 102 in commerce and industry, 94 within oil and gas industry, and 20 in water, electricity, and telecommunications.
