MUSCAT: Nearly 300,000 expatriate workers left Oman’s private sector during the pandemic from 2022 to 2021 due to low demand for jobs, the country’s Minister of Economy said.
Speaking in an interview with Oman TV, His Excellency Dr. Said Al Saqri said 295,500 expatriates left the private sector during the pandemic. “You cannot measure the performance of the private sector for the years 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic conditions, low demand for jobs and other reasons that led to the exit of about 300,000 expat workers, including 7,500 are Omanis,” Al Saqri added.
