MUSCAT : A tree plantation drive was organized by the Embassy of India in association with Environment Authority on 31 March 2022 at Rustaq as a part of Community Service Fortnight or Sewa Utsav. The Sewa Utsav is being organized under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to celebrate 75 glorious years of India’s independence in a unique way and serve the local community.

Embassy officials, Environment Authority officials, volunteers from Indian Social Club and teachers & students from Indian Schools in Oman participated with great enthusiasm in the tree plantation drive. All the participants were briefed on the Sewa Utsav which is inspired by the noble spirit of the holy month of Ramadan as well as the core Indian value of serving humanity by Embassy officials. The participants were also briefed on the conservation activities being organized by Environment Authority and the need of environment conservation for sustainable development and averting climate change.

Ambassador Amit Narang stated that, “we are thankful to the Environment Authority for extending support for the tree plantation drive and I am sure it will help in enhancing sensitivity towards the environment conservation in all the students and participants”. The tree plantation drive also contributed to the efforts of Environment Authority to plant ten million trees in Oman.
