MUSCAT: More than 7,000 licences were issued to commercial centres and shops for promotions and discounts, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said on Saturday.
In a statement issued, the Ministry said there has been an increase of 27.7% compared to the licenses issued in 2020.
“The total number of licenses for promotions and discounts granted by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion to centers and shops by the end of 2021 reached 7,175 licenses registered, an increase of 27.7% compared to the end of 2020, which amounted to 5,619 licenses,” the Ministry said.

According to the ministry, 2,451 licences were ranted granted for promotional offers, while 4,664 licences were issued for discounts and 60 licences were issued for marketing cards.
“No advertiser should announce any promotions or discounts until after making sure that the commercial establishment has obtained the license from the ministry,” MOCII added.
