MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos University, represented by the College of Law, signed a cooperation agreement in the field of student exchange and practical training with the Kuwait International Law College on Monday, March 28.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Barashdi, Dean of the College of Law, and from the Kuwaiti side, Prof. Muhammad Abdul-Mohsen Al-Maqati, President of the College.
Dr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Barashdi, Dean of the College of Law at Sultan Qaboos University, said, “The signing of the agreement stems from the continuous cooperation between the Kuwait International Law College and Sultan Qaboos University in organising student photo competitions, and their conviction of the necessity of coordinating their efforts to promote academic cooperation, and to develop programs to enhance cooperation and integration between the kidneys.”

Al-Barashdi stressed that the goal of the agreement is also to facilitate the task of organising mock arguments in various fields of law between students enrolled in applied studies courses at the end of each semester.
In order to provide students with the skill of the art of pleading and the method of drafting written memos in Arabic, in addition to training students on the mechanism of preparing international agreements and preparing various contracts in both Arabic and English through faculty members in the two colleges or through the assistance of specialists in this aspect.
A student team from the University’s Faculty of Law won, during the month of March, the award for the best written memo for the defendant’s team in the Arab competition for moot courts, whose case for this year revolves around a “cyber attack on a nuclear power facility by a hypothetical hostile state”.
At the end of next April, a team from the University’s Faculty of Law will plead in a friendly manner with a student team from the Kuwait International Law School in a hypothetical case related to “the issue of the displacement of citizens of one country to another country and the racism they faced during their displacement and its relationship to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948,” where the students will plead Virtual (virtual) before the International Court of Justice.
Next May, a team from the University’s College of Law will participate in the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration competition for the second time in a row, after two college students won the award for the best pleader in 2021
