MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has announced the commencement of the dualisation of Liwa Road project in the Governorate of North Al Batinah.
The project starts from Liwa Roundabout on Al Batinah Road and ends at the intersection of Al Batinah Expressway with a length of 5.5 km.
The project works include an increase in the efficiency of the existing road from a single road to a dual road with two lanes and a cross section of 8.9 metres in length for each direction.

The projects also includes construction of two new roundabouts with the preparation of the existing roundabouts connecting the two roads and the entry and exit lanes, and service roads on both sides of the dual carriageway to serve smooth commute for residential and commercial communities.
The dual carriageway will also be constructed according to the standard specifications approved in the Roads Design Manual, by providing it with all traffic safety requirements such as concrete and metal barriers, indicative regulations and warning paints.
