Oman participates in Council of Arab Health Ministers meet

This meeting is one of the annual health discussions that leaders and health officials in the Arab countries are keen to be a part of.

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, participates in the meeting of the fifty-sixth session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, hosted in Cairo for two days.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, Chairman of the Supreme Authority of the Arab Council for Health Specialisations, is heading the delegation from the Sultanate of Oman. The delegation participated in the session of the Preparatory Executive Office for the work of the 56th regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers held on Wednesday, March 23.

The meeting of the 56th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers will be held on Thursday. At the meeting, discussions will be held regarding the successful and pioneering experiences of Arab countries in the field of health.

Also talks will be held regarding the Arab Doctor Award, the Arab strategy project to standardise the procedures for registering, approving vaccinations and their use within the Arab countries. Draft Arab strategy for obtaining COVID-19 vaccines and unifying efforts to ensure the provision and equitable distribution of vaccines to Arab countries along with unified Arab efforts to combat drugs will be discussed.

The meeting will also discuss the indicative national plan for preparedness and readiness to confront the pandemics in the Arab countries and its adoption as a focus for the 56th regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers. Topics related to the Arab Council for Health Specialisations in order to enhance the role of the Council and implement its programs and activities in the next phase to support and develop health systems and services in the Arab world will also be emphasised. Also, contributions of the Arab Fund for Health Development to support Arab countries facing health crises and disasters, and other topics will hold priority at the meeting.

The meeting of the Council of Arab Health Ministers is one of the annual health interests that leaders and health officials in Arab countries are keen to attend and participate in due to the enriching scientific discussions that it contains and the health issues that are discussed collectively, and decisions are taken regarding them that will benefit the health systems in the countries. Additionally, a review will be held on the current challenges facing the Arab health systems and arriving at viable solutions according to epidemiological variables and regional and global health trends.
